Seattle Crane Operator Classes - For the supervisors and the operators, current and new, the crane operator training course is suitable for all. Course content includes applicable state, federal and provincial safety regulations. The training's first component consists of comprehensive in-class instruction and exam. After that is a hands-on customized session with practical instruction and evaluation.
Course content applies to all categories and types of overhead lifting devices. Specific instruction will concentrate on aspects of crane operation utilized at the workplace of the trainee. Upon finishing the course, people training will know how to operate particular overhead lifting machines, attachments and related parts safely and efficiently.
The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits that an operator may develop when operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to products and equipment could be avoided with right practices. Training reduces the likelihood of a workplace injury or incident occurring.
The course will encompass around eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of hands-on customized, on-site training. Participants would be graded on their understanding of training material through an assessment of their practical knowledge and written testing. The minimum acceptable score is 80 percent.
The in-class session, the trainee will be taught regarding guidelines and legislation, causes of damages and occurrences, danger awareness, internal responsibility, design principles and basic equipment, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, safe hosting/operating methods, pre-shift equipment inspections, equipment applications/rigging, types of hardware, hitches and angles, operator/pedestrian safety, flipping/turning loads safely, hand signals for slingers and operators.
The practical training and evaluation part of the course must be pre-scheduled. This customized portion of the training would be held at the trainees' facility. The duration of this practical training part is one to two hours. The instructor would train two operators at a time on skills like for instance planning the lift, proper rigging practices and safe operation.
Upon completing the in-class instruction and the practical operating instruction and evaluation, the trainee would write an exam. Signed safety rules will be required from each and every participant. Trainees who are successful would be provided with individual wallet certificates. A framed wall certificate will be provided to the company.
